Manage Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms With Essential Oils

People often confuse the differences in the two types of diabetes. In simple terms, type 2 diabetes occurs when your body does not process glucose properly. Glucose comes from the food we eat and insulin is a hormone that our pancreas produces to help glucose get into our cells. 

However when there is too much glucose (again, from the food we eat), our body either cannot make enough insulin or it does not use the insulin correctly. As a result, the glucose stays in our blood and never reaches cells to be used for energy. 

Over time, high levels of glucose in our blood can lead to:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Kidney disease
  • Nerve damage
  • Eye disease (which can lead to blindness)

Now while doctors will tell you that there is no cure for type 2 diabetes, you can absolutely manage and control it. Along with diet, exercise and supplements…essential oils are another tool to relieve your diabetes symptoms.

Also, in my private practice, I’ve seen type 2 diabetes completely reverse for clients that diligently utilized all of these strategies.

Here are my recommendations for 5 essential oils for type 2 diabetes:

Cinnamon Oil

Cinnamon oil works with your pancreas and can affect the release of insulin, which can stabilize your blood sugar. 

Researchers at the US Department of Agriculture’s Human Nutrition Research Center…studied the effect of various food substances that include cinnamon on blood sugar levels. They found that a water-soluble polyphenol compound called MHCP, which is abundant in cinnamon, synergistically acted with insulin and helped in the better utilization of that vital component of human health. I personally use cinnamon oil to feel full faster and keep cravings at bay. 

Coriander Oil

While cinnamon oil works with your pancreas, coriander oil works with your liver. Coriander oils is well-known for promoting healthy digestion. And in a recent study, it was discovered that an extract from coriander seed reduced blood sugar levels in test subjects. 

Rosehip Oil

Researchers have found that rosehip oil is beneficial for weight management. This is important because it’s essential for type 2 diabetes patients to have better control of their weight.  This study showed that abdominal total area fat, and body mass index decreased significantly when participants used rosehip extract. 

Clove Oil

Another study found that clove oil helped reduce enzyme levels in the pancreas. Researchers believe that these enzymes (α-amylase and α-glucosidase) are linked to diabetes and this will help in preventing or reversing diabetes that is caused by oxidative stress. 

Lavender Oil

One of my favorite and most versatile oils – lavender oil may be used to relieve diabetes symptoms. A study on animals found that lavender oil helped balance blood sugar levels. In addition, lavender oil helps your body produce powerful antioxidants, which can help prevent and reverse oxidative stress (a complication of diabetes).
