Fight or Prevent Cancer with this Nutrient-Rich Smoothie
After my husband’s brain cancer diagnosis, we’ve revamped his nutrition to include some of the best anti-cancer substances on earth and I would like to share his cancer-fighting smoothie recipe with you.
Cancer-Fighting Smoothie Recipe
- 1 tablespoon tumeric powder
- 1 tablespoon cellect powder
- 1 tablespoon hemp protein
- 1 tsp camu camu powder
- 1 tablespoon chaga mushroom powder
- 1 tablespoon amla powder
- 2 tablespoons green superfoods
- 1 tablespoon wheatgrass powder
- 2 tablespoons superfoods blend
- 1 tablespoon organic almond butter
- 1 tsp chia seed
- 1 tsp black cumin seeds
- 1 tsp cacao
- 1 tsp sulfur
- 2 packets of Stevia
Fill pitcher up with 1/3 water and 1 cup of ice then add all of the ingredients and blend for 1 minute.
Benefits of Each Ingredient
Turmeric – the main spice in curry, turmeric is one of the most powerful herbs. It works as an anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, pain reliever, as well as a diabetes and cholesterol drug. There have also been studies to show that turmeric is able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing.
Cellect powder – this is the key ingredient in the Cellect-Budwig Cancer Protocol. This powder has been shown to have amazing results with cancer patients and others with chronic or terminal illnesses.
Hemp – hemp is a widely used plant; you could find it in food, personal care products, textiles, paper and plastics. Hemp seeds are rich in healthy fats, protein and minerals. Use hemp seeds to enhance blood flow, maintain blood pressure and keep your arteries free of plaque. It can also help slow down your digestion, which protects against colorectal cancer. FYI: hemp and marijuana are not the same!
Camu Camu – Camu is an antimutagenic, which means it prevents cancer tumor mutation. Dr. Axe calls camu camu the next great superfood. This is because of all the health benefits, including:
- Boosts immune system
- Improves liver health
- Helps with depression
- Fights gum disease
- Reduces inflammation
Chaga mushroom – “chaga is a highly-concentrated black mass of mycelium that protrudes from birch trees“. Chaga has gained popularity because it’s known to support the immune system, relieve pain, support gastrointestinal health, breakdown LDL cholesterol and protect DNA. Chaga also contains antioxidant properties; this along with the immune system support is great to prevent cancer and other serious diseases.
Amla – also known as Indian Gooseberry, contains high levels of vitamin C and is a powerful antioxidant agent (remember that antioxidants prevent free radicals from damaging cells, which plays a role in cancer development).
Amla enhances food absorption, balances stomach acid, fortifies the liver, nourishes the brain and mental functioning, supports the heart, strengthens the lungs, regulates elimination of free radicals, enhances fertility, helps the urinary system, increases skin health, promotes healthier hair, acts as a body coolant, flushes out toxins, increases vitality, strengthens eyes, improves muscle tone… (source)
Green superfood – the original, made by Amazing Grass, contains a powerful blend of greens, fruits, veggies, digestive enzymes and probiotics. I love it for detox because it increases your energy levels and boosts your immune system, which prepares your body to fight cancer cell growth.
Wheatgrass – I prefer the powder, but you can purchase wheatgrass as a juice and even in capsule or tablet form. The main ingredient in wheatgrass is chlorophyll, which is known to detox and naturally cleanse the liver. Wheatgrass is also used to reduce damage from free radicals, which contributes to cancer cell growth. Wheatgrass also strengthens blood and boosts energy.
Almond butter – one of the delicious “good fats”, almond butter is high in vitamin E and it has been proven that this vitamin is essential in fighting cancer. Almond butter also contains calcium, magnesium, and fiber. Almond butter can help regulate blood sugar and lower your risk of a heart attack.
Chia seeds – I try to sneak chia seeds in whatever foods I can. First, it makes you feel fuller longer, plus it’s chock-full of fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins and minerals. Chia seeds are considered a superfood and one of nature’s antioxidants. Use them to help digestion, heart health, diabetes, and dental health. They are also great to boost metabolism, strengthen bones, build muscle, and limit the growth of cancer cells.
Black cumin seeds – I recently wrote an entire piece on the benefits of black cumin seeds. Studies have shown black cumin seeds to boost immune system, block cancer cell growth, and reduce side effects from traditional cancer treatments.
Cacao – back to those essential antioxidants for fighting cancer – raw cacao powder contains more antioxidant power than dark chocolate and blueberries.
Sulfur – another protocol for fighting cancer is called the Organic Sulfur Protocol. This involves getting as much oxygen as possible into the cancer cells. This gives sick cells the energy to kill microbes and convert into healthy cells again.
