Did You Know a Child’s Academic Achievement is Strongly Linked to Their Health?

It’s only natural to think that we, as a society, grow and make improvements as we move forward. Unfortunately when it comes to our food supply, it has actually gotten worse instead of better. 

This is why it’s important to remember that foods made in a laboratory are man-made creations full of chemicals and are nutrient-VOID.   

Our Food Is Not As Healthy As It Was 30 Years Ago

Food manufacturers put lots of effort into making more money and not making better food. Here are just some of the things in our food that are hurting our bodies:

  • Pesticides – the fact is that the use of pesticides on our food has gone up in last decade. Why is this harmful? Pesticides are a potent neurotoxin, meaning they are destructive to our nerve tissue and central nervous system. The American Academy of Pediatrics studied the effects of pesticides in children and found higher risks of ADHD.
  • Herbicides – when a chemical’s main purpose it to kill plant life, it can also do damage to human life. Herbicides have dangerous side effects, ranging from respiratory damage to cancer. The main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup, glyphosate, has been described as “the most important factor in the development of multiple chronic diseases…”
  • GMOs – it’s well-known that GMOs have a large impact on our health. But specifically it’s important to know when you eat genetically modified foods, they damage the gut lining.  Autoimmune conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s disease, and lupus, are all linked to leaky gut. 
  • Processed foods/additives – The Lancet British Medical Journal has said that if food additives were removed it would result in 30% decrease of hyperactivity in children. That’s incredible. By feeding our children foods containing high fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes, sodium nitrate, sulfites and more, we are doing more harm to their health than we realize.

Our Children’s Health

Now more than ever it’s important to get a handle on what our kids are eating. The World Health Organization states that cancer rates will rise by 57% in the next 20 years and calls it ‘an imminent human disaster‘. This means our children are at a higher risk than we are if something doesn’t change.

And it doesn’t only affect our children’s physical health. The Centers for Disease Control has stated, “the academic success of America’s youth is strongly linked with their health.” When our children struggle with chronic illness or other health conditions, their school work suffers. 

This is gorilla warfare against the food and chemical manufacturers that are out to make money regardless of what it does to our children. 

And what is the solution? The only and best way to fight this is to get into the kitchen and COOK again. Food can make us sick, but food can also make us better.

What Our Children Need to Eat

How can you improve your child’s health? It’s sort of simple. My philosophy is to eat real food, such as:

  • Organic meat & poultry
  • Wild-caught fish
  • Eggs
  • Nuts & seeds
  • Fruits & vegetables
  • Healthy fats

As a health coach, I stress the importance of real whole food. But as a mother,I know this isn’t always easy…ESPECIALLY with picky eaters.  So I try to use every tool I’ve got in order to keep my family healthy.
